We have all been there. You are having an amazing run in
Block Blast , your score is climbing, and you feel completely unstoppable. Then, out of nowhere, you get a giant block shape that doesn't fit anywhere, and it is instantly Game Over.
It feels like bad luck, but most of the time, it is actually the result of a few small mistakes made a few turns earlier. Because Block Blast is a pure endless high-score game, even minor errors can snowball into a quick defeat.
If you want to stop losing early and finally crush your personal best, make sure you stop making these five common mistakes.
1. Rushing Your Moves
The biggest mistake players make is playing too fast. Because the game looks like Tetris, our brains naturally want to rush. But remember: Block Blast has no timer. Whether you take one second or ten minutes to place a block, the score is the same. When you rush, you miss better placement opportunities and fail to notice how a piece might block a future move. Slow down, take a breath, and look at the whole board before you drop a block.2. Creating "Dead Zones" (Single-Tile Holes)
When you place blocks carelessly, you often leave empty, single-tile spaces trapped under your shapes. These are "dead zones."Unless you get lucky with a single-square block, these holes are incredibly difficult to fill. If you stack too many blocks on top of these empty spaces, you will quickly run out of room. Always try to place blocks flush against each other to keep the grid solid.
3. Playing One Block at a Time
When a new set of three blocks appears at the bottom of the screen, don't just grab the first one and drop it down. You need to look at all three shapes as a puzzle package. Before you move the first block, you should already know exactly where the second and third blocks are going to go. If you place Block 1 without a plan, you might accidentally fill the only spot that could fit Block 3.
4. Only Focusing on Horizontal Lines
It is easy to get hyper-focused on clearing horizontal rows because that is how standard puzzle games work. However, in Block Blast, vertical columns are just as important. If you only clear horizontal lines, you will end up with tall, thin columns of blocks on the sides of your screen. This completely ruins your ability to place long, horizontal blocks. Keep a healthy balance by clearing both ways.
5. Saving Too Many Blocks for "Later"
It is tempting to hold onto a large, awkward block and try to build around it while waiting for the perfect moment to clear it. Don't do this.Leaving a giant shape sitting on your board severely limits your working space. If you get a large or awkward piece, try to get rid of it or integrate it into a line as quickly as possible. The more open space you have, the safer you are.
